A HUGE thankyou
I Would like to thank the unidentified surfer at Secret Harbour for pulling George out of the rip/ dumping surf, Secret Harbour Surf Rescue for looking after him until StJohns Ambos arrived... the ambos for taking him to ED and of course my FABULOUS colleagues at rocko ED for all their care, of me as well as him..
He is now safely home..
muttering summit about keeping blood sugar levels up and eating huge quantities of anything that doesn't move...
not that I begrudge him anything, just so damned grateful that he is still with us...

Re: A HUGE thankyou
It's one thing teaching them water safety and what to do if caught in a rip/dumped by surf... you can drill it into them everytime they go to the beach... But its an entirely different thing when it actually happens (he's been dumped before but not caught)
after 2 years and 9 months of successfully being in the water... looking for likely rips and staying away from them ok... being drilled etc etc etc ... it had to happen... And he didn't remember what to do, coz until today its always been in theory... he's never felt that pull and been too scared to think and then too tired to function
he is one VERY lucky young man

All the teens have done surf skills etc, but 2 years ago the youngest got swept out in shoulder height water No obvious rip, sea calm, the middle teen was out there and they both got back in OK. Middle one now credits himself with saving the other ones life Laugh now, but really if they were fresh off the boat from UK they probably would have drowned.
Scary!!
