I know how you feel. I despair at their lack of knowledge about how to care for themselves. Mind you I refuse to change the boys bed (he is 18!) and so the sheets stay on there for months at a time.

lived with my parents part time when I was 16, spent the weekends away and monday-thursday at home, moved into my own flat at 17 and then ended up spending every second night on the phone to my mummy telling her what a boring day I'd had!
used to go home and visit lots as i couldn't take my dog with me to the flat so she had to stay with mum and dad. so I never really felt like I'd properly moved out...
moved to brissie at 23!

I guess the next question is have you ever lived on your own???
I haven't - always shared with a flatmate and now soulmate (ahhhh). But Berty lived on his own, albeit in free accommodation as he was employed as a student residence hall manager in a few locations..... (tho I think he quite often had 'company' of the female kind
)
I can't imagine living on my own - I have a couple of female friends in their late 30s/40s that live on their own and probably will for life - they have got too comfortable with everything their own way and refuse to compromise on anything! me,,,, I like to compromise...cept I always lose when we wrestle

I lived in a murses home sort of by myself - I suppose its similar to student digs as the ethos is communal.

lol
I reckon Bert had it all planned... he already had a job when we arrived so I was the housewife of sorts - chief cook and bottlewash. Now I work but it is just habit that I still do it all! He does help - he is very good really, but it just doesn't occur to him naturally. I don't get angry (he works harder than I do) but just say ' oh my god a man has disappeared in here!!!' - when I find the screwed up undies on the floor that look like he just got zapped somewhere leaving nothing but his pants!

lol, not knocking it at all - I was just never very good at occupying myself and never liked being on my own (was often on my own as a youngster - didn't fit in at school at all and home was well, hell) so... but my friends like it the way it is for them, so that's a good thing. I would hate for them to be on their own and hating it!
