Smile How much money does the tooth fairy bring in Australia?

Can anyone tell me how much the tooth fairy brings per tooth in Australia?

Does it vary state to state?

Is there a first tooth lost grant (FTLG)?

interesting question.

My teeth fell out approx 30yrs ago. The going rate was 10p per tooth, and this was in Edinburgh, Qld.

My sister's teeth fell out approx 10yrs later. Taking inflation into account, and a move to the more prosperous South East corner of the UK in that period, my sister was raking it in at 50p per tooth.

I don't know for certain but I suspect that kids in the UK right now will be earning GBP1 or 2 per tooth.

Translating into AUD terms, anywhere between $1.50 and $5 might be considered appropriate. I reckon that a $2 coin is fairly reasonable. Perhaps a particularly troublesome tooth might warrant a crisp $5 bill.

The Tooth Fairy leaves $2 per tooth in our house. She was here on Thursday night paying yet another visit.

She was here last night. She leaves $2. Who gets $5? Sheesh, that adds up...If my daughter found out the tooth fairy would leave her $5 per tooth, she'd probably yank as many out as possible with pliers just to buy another Zhu zhu pet.

Do any of the health funds cover this?

When our eldest daughter first teeth fell out we talked about the tooth fairy and she announced loud and proud, "The tooth fairy is made up and not real - its just you guys!"..

..Everyone knows fairies dont like to have their existence questioned so in the morning our daughter woke up and found, under her pillow, a little plastic bag with her tooth in - just as it was when she went to bed!

(are we evil?)

A nice shiny gold $2 coin in our house.
According to the tooth fairy, ketchup shines the coin up a treat

Last week.

(Though we've got to be nearly out of teeth. Must ensure tooth recycling doesn't take place.)

We did $2 as I used to get 50p/1 pound. However, DD has a friend who gets $5 per tooth and another who gets $5- $10! She asked why she only got $2 so I said every family has their own tooth fairy that sets the rate.......seemed to work.

I know of someone who was caught red handed, tooth in one hand, coin in the other. When the child asked what they were doing, this mother just flapped her arms like a fairy and left the room!!! Had us in stitches when she told us the other night......

Another $2 per tooth house here. Young SOB panicked when she lost a tooth and swallowed it - fearing that I might be exhorted to search her poop, I told her that the Tooth Fairy just knows when that has happened and special allowance is made

Last year the tooth fairy left a note advising that due to economic difficulties and cash flow problems made worse by children not cleaning their teeth after Easter Eggs, she was unable to make immediate payment and payment would be made the following week!

It was always 1 x the base unit of currency in our house. i.e. £1.

Tooth fairy doesn't visit us any longer.
