I try to fluff around the 17 year old and he is quite patient with me, humours me then does what he wants.
Biggest stress I had recently was finding out the 19 year old rides a motorbike, I had said no, it worries me sick. But his father let him learn and ride his bike. Son admitted it and if there was one thing I wish I could control its that, that motorbike.

Thank you everyone who commented and sent hugs, even though they are only virtual, they are much appreciated
I feel much better today, kids back at school and the sun is shining so have been for a lovely long walk this morning. Had a talk with my husband about everything and got it all off my chest, he is away all week now for work and to be honest I think a bit of space will do us good, it's so easy to lose sight of each other when you have day to day pressures of kids, work etc, so a bit of reflection time on both sides will help

DD has a job trial. I've just dropped her off at the bookshop. Apparently there are "many many" applicants for the job. Being slightly cynical now, is the owner just getting unpaid work by all these applicants?

Not cynical at all. Realistic. An awful lot of places do it and why wouldn't you, if you have lots of teens looking for work, you may as well whittle them down by trying them out to make sure you get someone with half a brain (in theory).
