Better day than most of these people I reckon...... I'll never complain about Aus Supermarket queues again.

Somewhere around Croydon....

I have had the house to myself all day so it's been sort of nice. Quiet but nice. My poor daughter had to be at work for 4 am so I got up at 3 to drive her. She's still there at 1, so she's going to be very tired when she gets home.

So far today I've finished the laundry and made a pavlova (we had 3 dozen eggs in the fridge so thought I better use some up) and now about to start on the rib rub so they can marinate for a few hours before I put them on the barbie to slow cook. All the presents are wrapped and under our very sad little tree.

Once the ribs are marinating I may just have a little sit-down with a book not written by an academic and a glass of something sparkly. Or maybe even go for a nice relaxing swim.

Sweet Jaysus, although I'm sure the current scenes at the Logan Hyperdome (a.k.a. PomsInFootballShirtsCentral) are not unlike this ...

I wouldn't know for sure though, I would rather visit France than any shopping centre right now.

My commute has been longer than my working day, off to some Finnish friends later to celebrate Xmas early (as is their tradition). The usual yearly mix of drinkers, buddist monks and kids ...

What breed is 'DestructoPup'?

Actually, talking of toys - I need to top up and sort out Rockys toy box.
- DestructoPup is a Ridgeback/Staffy cross and is a rogue, but looks so cute that it's hard not to forgive her evil ways! she has a lovely wrinkled brow that makes her look extremely worried apart from when she's grinning I'll have to stop calling her Pup though because she's about 22 months now and has less excuse for her pesky behaviour

I've decided that when I'm better off financially I'm coming to Perth as that seems to be where all the cooking action is and I do like food I'm also going to head to Brisbane to see the drunkards *hides from Polly*

I tell ya its exhausting work having a coffee watching them jump and do things I can no longer attempt (for public wellbeing reasons)

Yesterday they had a good cooling off in the pool and slides at the new aquatic centre in Moorabbin (east boundary road I think). Great facilities

Baking and meat is all done now. Oven is off for the first time since 8am. Bloody yule log has collapsed though Even icing ain't helping, so that will be started on tonight instead of tomorrow

Just the barbie to strike up in a bit for the salmon and prawns for tea.

Then shower, new PJs and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, then setting out FCs treats for his visit later

Cleaned the pool 3 times! The third time I was in it cooling down and swam round with a net, scooping all the bark out- again. OH did the shopping at 7am and had it all done and home 45 mins later. Spent the day cooking- gammon with fesh home grown potatoes and parsley sauce, and shop bought carrots and french beans, and roast butternut squash. Had 2 neighbours round for tea and cake, which was not as good as my usual one since it had only half the amount of alcohol in it this year due to the kitchen reno causing it to be shut away for a month with no feeding of brandy. Still pretty good, but they were able to walk home afterwards!!

Letting tea go down, before I make custard for the trifel and take DD off to the candlelight carols at the church. When I get back I plan to have some wine and watch Wallace and Grommit.

All is very civilised in gentrified suburban Surrey. There were a few more cars at Waitrose but they had some nice chaps helping folks park (we walked). There must be plenty of turkeys left as the ducks on the canal don't look the least bit worried

We went to church yesterday for mass, and are just about to go again (when I say 'church' I mean a converted chapel that's now a restaurant and bar. When I say 'mass' I mean coffee and cake by the fire)
