mate all up, a visa is gonna cost you about 5k to get... possibly a LOT less.

If you cant make your mind up and the 5k isnt a concern, then must be family.. or perhaps it aint right for you..

If you have read loads, and have been to an agent, and spent 100 quid, surely you have a inkling of whats right for you guys...

Perfect age for the kids, but perhaps not for you, as it sounds like you are a tad to attached to old blighty

maybe go on a reccie trip and see what you think? It's a lot of money yes but not as much as moving, deciding you don't like it and moving back! Plus yuo'll get an amazing holiday out of it! Having lived in Ayr i can understand yuo not wanting to leave Scotland, I still miss it, especially living here in crappy london

We were fairly sure we'd like Oz as my brother lives there and tells us EVERY time we speak that it would suit us down the the ground. Then we went over in August for his wedding and really fell in love with the place. We just loved the vibe we got immediately, people are lovely, stunning scenery etc etc. Course it's different living there, still have to work, pay tax etc but what a nice surrounding to do all of that in!

Take a trip, see how you feel and go from there?

all the best,

Therese

It's a gamble, like lots of things we do in life....

You didn't know what it would be like to be a dad, did you? But you still went off & had 2 kids :)

Only you can answer the question about whether it will suit you. We are going ahead because we know ourselves pretty well & that we'll make a good go of it. We've not done a reccie & we've got no second thoughts at all..... if it doesn't work out, well, it still will have been a great experience.

It sounds though like maybe you do need to go & make a visit & decide after that.

Everyone is different & what is the right thing for us may not be the right thing for you - go with your gut instinct & best of luck!

Gotta say I agree totally with the above. go out for a holiday/reccie which may help you decide either way as this is something you really should be 100% positive about before you do it as the visa application can be a long and often stressful process.
Hope whatever you decide to do in the end is the right decision for you.

In our case the decision was really easy.

We were struggling like mad in the UK...had been for years, so it was a good way out for us.

We will never live like kings here, but it seems much fairer and if you are prepared to work hard, it seems like it will be much more rewarding than the UK....(maybe someone who had been here longer than 6 weeks can confirm that)

I too had to leave both of my parents behind in the UK, as well as my sister, a heap of good friends etc.... but we have the internet, and you'd be suprised how much different it is with things like MSN messenger etc. Hats off to those who made the move before the days of the internet etc These days you can be anywhere and still keep in touch with the people you love the most.

I'd say go for it....
