How do I blank an old hard drive?
I have an old computer, it runs windows millennium and has been gathering dust for the last few years as I have 2 newer computers which are used for business and pleasure.
I am a bit of a numb nuts when it comes to computers and tech stuff but I need to blank (As in totally blank) the hard drive on the old computer as I am giving it to a friends kid as they do not have a computer and it would get some use there, the only problem is the computer holds some quite sensitive business information and some family pictures and other things I would not want anyone to have access to.

f-disk....will do a quick and easy job of it, it's dos based though, and free...errr...probably find it here if you don't have a copy of win98 knocking around http://www.bootdisk.com/

Just to elaborte on dave's comment. There is an "ask bob" thread in Lounge section of the forum. Bob is a whiz at tech stuff and an all around really nice guy. If anyone can help you he can, and you better grab him quickly he's starting a full time job soon!

http://www.23cc.com/free-fdisk/ err...yeah, first site, I've only used it to get a win98 boot disk, and it only tells you how to use f-disk, but this second site has it, the fixed one that'll do large hard drive sizes.

No porn on this one, do you think I am stupid or somat? All the porn is on my laptop.
So, in a nutshell. I download this Fdisk thing on my work lappy, burn it to a disc and run it on the old computer and that should do the trick?
