Holiday in Denmark WA
I would like to take the family down to Denmark for a week in January, can anyone recommend good self catering accommodation, within walking distance of the beach.
Thanks:thumbsup: |
Re: Holiday in Denmark WA
I can't recommend any accommodation as we have always camped down there, but good choice of holiday. I love it down there. Gets away from the heat of Perth, the beaches are fantastic (water a bit cold though!) and beautiful scenery. Enjoy!

Thanks we have never been before, but it looks like the sort of place we would like.

Re: Holiday in Denmark WA
Sorry I can't recommend a self catering place, we've only stayed in B & B's down in Walpole and Denmark. Friends of ours stayed here and liked it.

Re: Holiday in Denmark WA
Hi
We've been to Denmark twice and loved it! First time we stayed at Karma Cottages which is about 20 mins out of the town and half way to Williams Bay and Greens Pool. They were fantastic and could have lived there especially as they are next door to a vineyard! Last year we stayed at Caddyvale Cottages which was nice but not as good as Karma. We got our accommodation off the Denmark tourist board website and booked both times via them. I'm not sure if there is much actually within walking distance of the beaches. Denmark has the main ocean beach which I've never seen such an expanse of sand and also Lights Beach. Then 30 mins from town is Greens Pool which is sheltered and also visit Elephant Bay which is next door for rocks that look like....Elephants. Mad Fish bay is also supposed to be good as the fish jump out of the water but I think you might need a 4x4 to get down there. Hope you enjoy it - it's a lovely place! |

Re: Holiday in Denmark WA
This truly beautiful place is great for fishing, kids, and family camping.
We camped at xmas last year and stayed for nearly three weeks! As op said William Bay, Mad Fish Bay are lovely and defo worth a vist, we camped at Parry beach which just West of Denmark 27km i think, you pay $7 a night for the pitch and are allowed camp fires at night as the temp does drop have fun and enjoy this magical place:) |

Re: Holiday in Denmark WA
We've just been down there for the long weekend.
Definitely recommend it. We stayed at the Observatory Resort which has chalets (also restaurant and bar on site). Its not near the beach though. All I saw near Ocean beach was a camping site but I know when we looked there were places down Ocean Beach Rd and the river. The tourist websites and Goggle maps will help. All places mentioned are fab. You can get to Madfish Bay and Waterfall beach by car - I remember it well - saw the biggest Dugite crossing the road I've ever seen! Some of the ocean beaches can be a bit naughty rip wise and not much surf life saving around however they are all signed and plenty of safe options - Green Pool, Peaceful Bay. Lots to see and do. I'd recommend doing the drive via 2 routes - one Albany highway, the other altough a bit longer is worth the effort for the tress and contrast (thats via Bridgetown, Manjimup, Pemberton) - that route is stunning whereas Albany is a little "boring". Definitely do the Valley of the Giants tree top walk. You'll enjoy, we'll definitely go again. |
