If you chew gum (normal stuff) or take any nicotine replacements you better check those out for Sing too. That said I have walked into Sing on numerous occasions with a stray pack of gum in my pocket without incident.

Oh your itinerary sounds absolutely amazing!!! I work in travel here in the UK really closely with Royal. I think it's Mariner you're going on from Singapore on the Best Of Malaysia isn't it? My friends recently did something similar with them and their photos looked truly brilliant.
I really hope you love it!! I did a short cruise for my first one which was a really sensible decision to make because like you said, then you know whether it's worth it or not to do longer ones! I went on Oasis of the Seas from Amsterdam - Southampton and we've booked another 2 subsequently! If you want any advice or information about cruises just let me know because it's something I spend all day doing at work lol!! You sound like a true cruise convert now - wow, two more booked, exciting times for you! Ta for the offer of further info - I must admit that I've spend hours looking at different parts of the site, and going through the cruise planner. Not sure which night is designated 'formal', but whichever night it is I think Scouse and I will have dinner in our cabin. He doesn't 'do' formal unless it's a wedding or a funeral  There's a lot of suggestions on the cruise planner - buy this, add that, spend a bit more money. I did succumb to a couple of bottles of Moet, because it was around the same price as we pay for it here. Booked a specialty restaurant for one night, and am having some fruit and flowers placed in the cabin. I did, however, find it quite easy to resist the shore tours. We have a maximum of 5 hours in each place, so will just hire a taxi, have a mad ride around, and scuttle back to the ship. Don't forget to post a review of your next cruise! |

If you have time in Langkawi, a meal at Fat Cupid is a must. The owner is an expat Aussie-Malaysian, and it is a beautiful restaurant
Have just checked, we'll be docked until 11pm so this will be perfect - how great to have a recommendation and to be able to tell the taxi driver where we want to go. I'll tell them Msmyrtle recommended them:starsmile: Just read the menu again - nasi sambal udang is the one. |

Thanks Beoz - I don't chew gum because I'm not risking stuffing up the dental work! Good point though - I remember last time we were over there, reading about someone getting arrested for spitting their gum onto the footpath. Now if only that would also happen to those who choose to hawwggghhhk up and spit a big gobby in your path. Yuck, my pet hate.

Thanks Msmyrtle - have just read the menu, yum. Satay sticks and lemongrass mojitos for me! I've heard a lot about nyonya/homestyle Malaysian cooking, can't wait to try it.

If you can find a nightclub building called 'Sunba' on the main drag, Fat Cupid is down a little alleyway. |

I made the mistake of going on an overland bus trip with a bunch of spoiled princesses and this place saved my sanity to get away from them at least for two nights!!

Poor you, being stuck with a busload of spoiled princesses. So glad you found a hideaway from them! You've reminded me of something similar I've experienced, except in this case it was a planeload of teenage wheelchair athletes competing at the Nationals. I was given the 14 - 17 year old female group to supervise, and although I had a younger daughter in a wheelchair nothing prepared me for the antics of this group! We were all in hotel accommodation, and I did a spot bedcheck one night, at midnight. They were all in their rooms (actually, they were all in one room!), they had some of the male athletes in there, and half of them were hanging out of the window smoking! After seeing them all safely tucked up in (their own) beds, I needed to go to the bar for a little drinkie to recover  |

Re: Holiday!
Sounds fantastic, you'll both have a great time. Looking forward to hearing all about it.
P.S I could have house sit for you, a break from my teens sounds like heaven. :sneaky: Party in Perth anyone?.....................:scarper: :wub::angel: |

Oh man that trip was hilari-bad. I can laugh about it now but back then I was supremely annoyed. The worst offender was this posh English girl that on the first night introduced herself and then told everyone her boyfriend paid for her around-the-world-trip and that he was studying his boards to be a surgeon. Hahah omg that girl was horrid.

Re: Holiday!
 Thanks Molly! If you were happy to be at home all day with a food crazed lump of a dog who insists on climbing in your lap, all 47kg of him, then you would have been most welcome! Bit of an expensive break for you though, coming all the way to Perth
I've told the sitters that they're welcome to have people over for drinks etc, and even offered them free reign of our liquor cabinet - we always buy it duty free when leaving the airport and we very rarely drink it. Which makes us really stupid, when you come to think of it. Anyway, they were horrified and said they 'wouldn't dream' of drinking our grog or using our food. Guess what I'm giving for presents this year! As predicted earlier, I didn't wait till Christmas to give Scouse the news :o I told him last night - mainly because it was our big family Chrissy do today and since I'd told everyone except him, someone was bound to get pissed and indiscreet  He's thrilled to bits, which is such a relief. I thought he might fret a bit about the mutt, or the house, but nope, he's looking forward to the break as much as I am. Roll on 6 January! :xmaspressie: __________________________________________________ ____________ |
