Default Holden Versus Toyota

Heart says buy a commodore but mind says by a practical toyota camry?

Need plenty of legroom in back and V6 min under the bonnet. Other essentials are leather (child friendly), Auto (wife cant drive stick), Cruise Control (for the annual Melbourne to Brisbane boys cruise). Would NOT be a joke to get one without AC.

Wife thinks Commodores are rubbish - unfortuately have to agree if comparing with our current BMW's but lifes not all about finesse is it? Used to have a HSV and Senator but sold on return to UK few years ago. Black on Black with AC/DC blasting - makes life worth living.

Any suggestions or experiences?

Suggestion - Ford XR6

I really like mine and have driven most makes of cars and generally didnt think I would own another Ford...but....what can I say - its lovely and beats the Holden in most class tests for pretty much everything.

Get a Hyundai.

I might be tempted - how did you find the Ford Dealers?

Holden haven't even returned my contact emails

It's a 3.8 litre job, with luxury fittings.

Heres another link: http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/car-review/ce7962.aspx

Looks like I overstated the price by $10k I'm sure I saw $55k mentioned somewhere though.

It is easily mistaken for a Merc. And is near enough as comfortable

Hyundai itself sees it's main competitors as the Nissan Maxima, Mitsubishi 380, Commodore Berlina, Accord Luxury, Chrysler 300C and even Ford Fairlane and Holden Statesman.

Will indeed be looking at it when I arrive. A little worried about the road handling from recent reports but will still give it a serious consideration.

As they say though. most buyers won't drive it in a way that it will be affected by that. I think it's more of a comfort car.
I would imagine that the new one wouldn't be built to a lesser standard than the older one, which is, in my opinion, a pretty good car.

I didn't realise it was a Hyundai until we had become very interested in it.
If I had known before, I may have never even looked at it

I drove both a Commodore and a Falcon for a month very recently and the Holden was much better put together and all-round nicer motor than the Ford. That said - I wouldn't have either - given the popularity, reliability and pricing however, I'd only ever consider a Japanese car out there.

Had a fairlane as a company car - worst lemon after merc I have ever had. But it could of just been that a lemon not the brand.

Will consider all - my wife is comparing any thing we get to our X5 and 535 over here. Personally Im sick of having a nice car and jealous idiots scratching the sides or letting down the tyres. And no i dont cut people up thinking my car is better or bigger - still remain a chilled out kiwi and let others in.

that's not like you my learned friend

still a 45 grand Hyundai will be worth 30 grand as soon as it drives out of the showroom, that's just an uneducated guess mind you.
