Help - What's sticky back plastic called in Oz?
We've just bought an old caravan and will want to cover the wood veneer cupboards with sticky back plastic BUT what's it called over here?
I know for school books it's called contact - but that just thin stuff.
Any ideas?!

Correct answer is "Contact" - The leading brand of sticky backed plastic in Australia for many many years, and the brand whose name is inextricably linked with the product for the rest of eternity like:
"Hoover" <-- UK
"Sellotape"<---UK
"Manchester"<---Australia
"Biro" <--- UK
etc etc etc...

This reminds me of a poem I once read -
ahem....
"Blue Peter is my favourite prog,
With Simon, Peter and Goldie the dog,
Leslie Judd is truly fantastic,
She does interesting things with sticky-back plastic"

So any ideas where I can get heavy duty contact - as I don't think the book cover stuff will be good enough....
The website added was good, but is a US site and I dread to think how much it would cost to ship 45ft of the stuff (seemed to be the minimum quanity of what I want!!).

Re: Help - What's sticky back plastic called in Oz?
We wanted to cover our daughter's wardrobe and ended getting the contact off Ebay, shipped in from Korea. It was significantly cheaper than buying it here in Australia. Also came in widths creater than 45cm, which seemed to be the limit we could source locally.
The Ebay user is 'yssblee', give them a go, they do the contact in all sorts of patterns - plain gloss, bricks, tiles, woodgrain (bit pointless as that's what you've already got).
The only downside was that the gloss white that we got had a very slight blue tinge. It's also quite thin but you don't want it too thick as it will have a tendancy to come unstuck when it's bent around a tight corner.
Hope this helps,
Stu
