Help with spiders and ants please

Hi all,
Right moved in to a property and this morning i had 2 hugh spiders in the house and a ant invasion. I have contacted my rental agent who is going to contact the owner and tell him.
I have used morten outdoor and in door professional sprays and they still came in.
Do you have any advice as the owner could take long enough to get back to me.
Thanks
Shabee

Huntsmen are ok- they eat the smaller deadly ones!! spiders will come in after heavy rain, so I am expecting some today:ohmy:
If it is small and black, or medium sized and black/glossy brown, beware! Don't step on them as a funnelweb has fangs long enough to go thru your shoes.
You can look up australian spiders on the web- just google search them.

Agreed. Just looking at the size of that thing I reckon you'd need an industrial can of Mortein to kill it... which I wouldn't actually want to do but I'd be so freaking scared I wouldn't want to get so close to move it outside and there's no way it'd be given permission to camp out in my house. You just know that one day you're gonna wake up and it be on the ceiling right above your head ready to drop at any minute.:eek::eek:

You can't get those ones with Mortein - they're too fast! By the time the spray is coming out the can they are off......and you never quite know whether it got enough of a dose to kill it.....or just to make it really, really angry! I lost one in the laundry once that way.....never to be seen again.....I moved house!!

Eek!!! Well, I've seen arachnaphobia and I know there's a nail gun in one of these boxes somewhere - I just need to practice my aim (and find an understanding landlord).

Hi,

OMG! I'm itching all over now. Oh God how am I going to cope with the spiders, you'll hear me screaming for miles.

I've got a spider catcher but if they're as big as that I'm sure they'll wrestle the spider catcher from me and beat me about the head!

Just keep saying, it'll be fine, it'll be fine, it'll be fine...

Thanks.

No, Jason wept!

Is that for real - looks the size of a plate! I went on a 'friendly spider' course at london zoo before I got here (sydney) and thought I was ok with them now - but I'm not at all ok with that. Sh!t

You see that's the funny thing. I think I would be OK with a tarantula on my hand - I'm not sure if its because its generally slow moving and has a bit more bulk to it that I consider it to be a bit more animal than insect. However large huntsman and me are 100% incompatible, sharing the same house anyway!

Fortunately so far, encounters with hunstman that size have been on about a once a year basis!

Yeah I'm the same - in fact I let a tarantula sit on my hand at the zoo and somehow it's more like a stationary rodent with more legs  ) and even managed to let house spiders crawl on my hands/arms.

But here, the little ones can kill so you shouldn't touch them and the big ones are f#cking huge and run like they have...well, 8 legs. I'm not sure what I'd do if I had one of those in my place - cry like a girl, call a neighbour while I watched it to make sure it didn't disappear, move to a highrise - probably in that order... :)

On the original post about what to do about them? - sorry, as you can probably tell I'm not your man!
