heading back to the uk with limited cash

am looking at heading back to the uk in the next few weeks and the old cash has been drained pretty badly, i have relatives over there but i don't really want to have to trouble them by living there, they have offered, am thinking since the time of year is right i'll just buy an old diesel mondeo and a caravan and live from vanpark to vanpark till i can get a job sorted and money coming back in.

way i see it, 1000 for the car insured and 1000 -1500 to sort a caravan, then its about 15 to 20 pounds a night for a pitch (lot cheaper than going straight in on a flat with admin fees, bond, council tax etc) if i get a seasonal pitch somewhere its only 1000 pounds for three months including power.

Just feel like abit of a pikey...

I think you would be better to look for a house share - or to stay with relatives. You are not going to get much of a car for £1000 taxed and insured - and I wouldn't like to guess on the caravan. Some rooms in houses are not that expensive - and cheaper than paying a caravan pitch. You'd have the added benefit of a fixed address for job hunting, dr's etc

Dunno where you're moving to but suppose you make it London though it could be any of the major cities. You can get a room in a shared house for around 20 quid a night. Best place to look is in the windows of local newsagents or look on Gumtree or places like here. For the money you're talking about for a car you're likely to end up with an expensive wreck that costs the same again for insurance. Public transport worked well for me when I moved from overseas to London many years ago with just 800 pounds and a suitcase of stuff. In fact it was so good I resisted buying a car until some years later. A cheap car and caravan is likely to become more of a burden to you than a help.

Good luck

Could you look at house-sitting? There are a few sites you could register - As long as you are prepared to look after pets you could stay somewhere for free to start!
