Have you been jabbed?
 

Since there seems to be a lot of vaccine hesitancy, just wondering who has been jabbed?

I had first AZ three weeks ago, as have a few more from work. A couple have also had first Pfizer (and maybe both now as SA is doing 3 weeks between jabs for Pfizer).

SA didn't have the greatest roll out to start, but think there's progress being made.

Unfortunately, no I haven't and neither has scouse. I'm taking medication that suppresses my immune system, so have been advised by my specialist that a vaccine is futile at the moment. I've decided to reduce my medication to the level where my body is again able to mount an immune response to the vaccine. That means my autoimmune condition will flare up which equals a lot of pain and some possible damage, but I and my community won't be protected from covid until everyone who can be vaccinated is.

Scouse developed DVT after recent spine surgery, he's had his first AZ vaccine and is due his second in a couple of weeks. Waiting to see if his doctors approve him having this. The very rare instances of a totally different type of blood clot linked to AZ didn't deter him at all, the determining factor will be whether or not his DVT puts him at greater risk than the general population.

:fingerscrossed: Scouse is okay. My brother in UK had previously had a couple of DVT's and was still given AZ, so not sure. If Scouse can't have AZ for second dose, hopefully they'll let him have Pfizer in line with other countries.

Sorry to read about the autoimmune issue. As much as we all need to be vaccinated, cases like yours are the reason others need to be jabbed to help protect those who can't be.

I won't get my second jab until August but I'm sure it'll come round soon enough.

Just found out that our address is classed as regional, and all over 16's in regional areas can get jabbed, so young spark can book his :)

EDIT - over 16's is for regional SA. Not a comment on all states.

Cheers Sparkles. The TGA hasn't approved mixing vaccines yet, but hopefully he can just have his second AZ.

Of course. We should all be doing our bit. Second AZs due end of this month for me and early August for him.

I'm very pleased to say that pretty much my whole group of friends has had at least their first jab. Much less vaccine hesitancy than I had feared. Only exception that I can think of is a homeopath, which says it all. I'm pleased and relieved about this as to be honest, those people who are so selfish as to not get vaccinated (if they are able to) aren't people I would want to be friends with.

Where are you at the moment Louie?

Everyone I know has had pretty similar reactions after the first jab - including those having Pfizer. Headache and tiredness plus sore arm seem most common. How have you and your friends gone?

Excellent good to here the youngsters can line on up.

I personally don't know anyone who has gone fearful. Most want it asap in my circle. A mate had to rip his father in law a new one who won't for fear of clots. Not gone down too well when this mates mother lives in the UK.

Had my first AZ, second due in a couple of weeks. Surprisingly enough with my medical history I have had no side-effects at all so far :fingerscrossed:
I've had some rather vocal exchanges with colleagues, senior public servants, who are refusing to get vaccinated at all, totally crazy when you think that our entire working life now is spent dealing with quarantine issues, border closures, and reporting on COVID figures. I had to walk away biting my tongue when one said last week that "vaccines are pointless as none of us Australians ever want to travel again anyway."

Good to hear you had no side-effects :)

I'm surprised at the attitudes of your colleagues - surely they can see the impact closed borders are having? But even then, we're only one slip up in quarantine away from another outbreak :(

No. Waiting on Pfizer as per GP and specialist advice.

I was just googling Pfizer for over 50's and I can't see it as an option yet. Is it possible to arrange with your local vaccination clinic or still a no go, even on medical advice?
