Default Happy Christmas Queensland!!

Great early Christmas present from our Premier and CHO today: Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announces COVID-19 roadmap to reopening as state records zero local cases. Fully vaccinated travellers will be allowed to enter Queensland without the need to quarantine from December 17.
Ms Palaszczuk said Queensland would begin a phased border reopening for fully vaccinated people from November 19.

She said modelling showed 80 per cent of Queenslanders could be fully vaccinated by December 17and said if vaccine targets were reached sooner, the date could be brought forward.

But she said even if the state did not reach 80 per cent, the date was "locked in" and would not be pushed back.

"[From December 17] travellers from a designated interstate hotspot can travel by road or by air, they must be fully vaccinated, they must have a negative COVID test in the previous 72 hours and no quarantine will be required," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"That is good news for families to be reunited for Christmas."
I think our government, along with a few other states and territories have done an exceptionally good job of getting us through this pandemic without major loss or life or excessive morbidity. Not only has my faith in politicians been restored to some extent, but I'm also proud that we've followed the science and put people before profit in QLD.

Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas
Tests must be taken until Qld reaches 90%, which may never be achieved, and free Medicare tests don't provide the negative test certificate

If Queensland is not prepared to accept the free Medicare SMS version of the test, each traveller is up for $150 per test. Family of 4 travelling for Xmas, add another $600 to the trip cost - not going to happen for most.

If it helps you not to feel bad, embarrassed or otherwise disadvantaged, (as it appears) it could be argued QLD CHO has contributed to your well being, enormously.

The Queensland CHO has contributed nothing for me, except a bundle of laughs along the way.

But it's not about me, I live in NSW and have no need or reason to go to Queenand. It's all those poor people who have had their lives sabotaged by the Qld CHO. The border communities, those who work across borders, those separated from loved one. Even mothers and small children separated. The livelihoods she has destroyed. And the only ticket out, vaccines is sabotaged by her own stupid comments. It's pure comedy but very sad for some at the same time.

QLD Health has come up with some great health education messages, I think this one is awesome. I'm not surprised that this topic has caught Beoz's (overactive) imagination, seeing how he's had a hard on for Queensland for so long I hope he gets his relief.

Only the gutless can't directly reply to those they want to talk about. Your true colours show again.

Looks like its shaping up to be a good Christmas
From December 17, when Queensland is expected to hit 80 per cent double-dosed, there will be no capacity or other restrictions on clubs, pubs, cafes, cinemas, galleries, museums, libraries, theatres, theme parks and stadiums, provided all staff and patrons are fully vaccinated.

Only fully vaccinated staff and patrons, including performers, crew, catering and food truck workers, will be allowed to enter indoor and outdoor festivals where no COVID-19 density limits apply.

Weddings will return to normal, as long as all people present are fully vaccinated.....

The arrangements would come in earlier if the 80 per cent target was met sooner, but Ms Palaszczuk said modelling showed it would likely only be “one or two days” earlier than December 17.

People will be able to show their vaccination status via the Check in App by mid-November. https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/nat...09-p59770.html
I think its quite remarkable that we'll achieve this calmly and sensibly without the death and morbidity wrought elsewhere. Shows that the privations and personal sacrifices have paid off.

Guess this must be hugely disappointing for some people who wished a massive outbreak on Queenslanders to scare them into getting vaccinated but quite frankly.... I don't give a stuff.

Not so sure about that. People had their freedoms removed. Freedoms to see the birth of a child, to see a loved one before dying, to control the destiny of their businesses, to seek medical attention, and the list goes on. All in the name of chasing zeros while failing to promote vaccination when it was available. That is well and truly unforgivable and a despicable act by the Qld government. As it stands you will never be able to go overseas. Queensland is so far off 90% it's unlikely they will ever get there.

Maybe another Christmas present will be getting the vaccine authorised for 5-12 year olds. We can live in hope.
