The irrational fears from too much booze is a symptom of a depressive drug (alcohol) working on the psyche because the individual doesn't know what they did under the influence.
They dont think they did anything wrong but if somebody was to tell them otherwise, they would have to accept it as they cannot honestly remember.

Most jakies, if not all, dont like themselves or their lives or both, so drink excessive amounts to escape. Mix that depression witha depressive drug which is alcohol and the result is the fears. Simple.
