Default Guy looses arm following snake bites

Interesting newspaper story about a bloke who had to have his arm amputated after being bitten by a brown snake.

This story does explain however why you never see Steve Irwin drinking beer.

Unanswered questions: after being bitten by a highly venomous snake, why would you:

1. put the snake in a plastic bag?
2. place (your already bitten arm) into the same bag?

Acutually, I think that this is a really tragic story.
A bloke gets pished one night, mucks about with mates etc, and loses his arm, movement in legs, probably his job, possibly his bonk-life, certainly his selfworth. It's terrible.

Exclamation Re: Guy looses arm following snake bites

Good grief, that's hideous!

Sure, the guy was off his face and acted like a complete idiot - but I can't help feeling sorry for him.

It's a pretty harsh result for a few minutes of drunken horseplay. :scared:

what about the first aid (Topend style): getting whacked about the head and doused in beer.

Not sure if they teach that in the St Johns Ambulance!

yep, most Aussies, being aware of the deadliness of certain snakes will of course stop to pick up (said) snake if they see one laying around! Even, when pished - why would anyone do such a totally num-nut thing! What a complete plank!

Sad that he lost his arm, glad he pulled through!

I'm apologising before hand everyone.
This is the only thread that has ever made me laugh out loud, and I mean tears streaming down face almost choking. (not because of loss of arm) but his friends first aid technique. I can't stop laughing even when typing this reply. Once again I apologise.

Don't apologise!! Same reaction here!!

To answer your question, his mates did a very 'good for the environment' thing. See it is Summer in Australia and therefore water is fairly scare. So they used Beer which is more plentiful over there!!

Beer is great...it is good for your hair, it is good for your skin, sure quenches your thirst and also because it has alcohol in it (no sh** sherlock) it acts like a antiseptic

What thoughtful friends he had, to think of the environment that way
