Sorry... I thought the title read "quilt" ... Was getting all excited for a moment..

You could always take up quilting and send them back home to the frail and elderly.... Help ease that guilty conscious....

Hmmmm.... Hard for the elderly to go into a nursing home or hard for us coping with our own lives

Most NH I worked in allowed semi independent living in a dignified and social environment....

They had morning teas, lunches together, card schools going in the afternoons.. All kinds of entertainment and social stuff.. They were well taken care of by people who enjoyed the work... Surrounded themselves with bits and pieces that remnded them of "home" and family...

Its better than being isolated, alone all day, no one to talk to, sat in your unchanged incontinence pad, falling on the floor and not being discovered for 3 days... Wasting away coz you can't manage to make a meal as its too much effprt for the one of you and no one else is going to do it for you....

There are HUGE advantages to choosing to go into a nursing home, not least of which is your family should be safe in the knowledge you are being well cared for, safe, fed, cleaned, and kept socially active with a group of people in similar circumstances who will become your friends.....

Its a new lease of life for a lot of elderly people...

For sure Ed. It's a huge weight off everyone to know that she will be somewhere safe and have people to ensure that she's eating properly, washing herself (or getting help to wash), and not living alone where she's vulnerable to falls or the scum of society who prey on little old ladies who live in their own homes.
