Default Guardian to launch Australian online edition

Not bad going, 2013 and Australia finally has more than one national newspaper, and this one won't even be owned by Rupert!

That'll rock the boat. Hope Rinehart doesn't decide to buy it and sack everyone like she did in Melbourne.

Just what Australia needs, more feminist shite

Nothing in the Guardian for us blokes, bit like the SMH.

Yeah, just what Australia needs, a newspaper not written by Rupert Murdoch.

Guardian is now unspeakable. Before it was just irritating. Strictly for the feminist Chatterati of London.

Bring it on!!
Mind you I would love access to a proper printed paper (people send me copies of Weekend Guardian and Observer for pressies). My current newspaper of choice is MX (Brisbane Edition). Although it can be anti-pommy at times

I don't see the point of buying newspapers, paper or electonically. It's all yesterdays news.

That's hardly the point of newspapers. We don't read them to be informed, we read them to know how others are being informed.

Its not just about what is happening in the here and now it is also about indepth journalism, stories about other ordinary people who have suffered adversity, good news stories, recipes etc etc etc It will be a very sad day indeed if newspapers go forever either in print media or digital.

It will be good to have some independent media not weighed down with vested interests or Murdoch. There is no left of centre paper here so it will be interesting to see who picks this up. If Gina gets her way and wrecks Fairfax then the timing is perfect.

I am sure Gillard will fill the career pages with non-jobs like outreach co-coordinators and community organisers.

I thought they were going bust?

Oh well, it's just the lefties equivalent of the Daily Mail.

For every 'imigrant' and 'raise in benifits' the Mail rant about, there will be a 'banker' and 'cut in spending' for the Guardian.

That's a peculiarly american view of where the centre is.

The mail is (conservative) right wing, but the Guardian is a paper of the centre. Truly left wing papers don't really exist anymore, which is surprising when you consider how much they could point out "we was right".

The Mail is not news.

The Guardian and Telegraph are the left right equivalent like the Sun and Mirror.

The Mail is simplistic turd.
