I really don't mean to be, I know this is no help but my mum told me that Griffith is a nice place for my husband and I to move to.

I was only going off what the media said

I'm in Griffith and have been for 25 years. I'm not a British expat, but I have travelled the world a bit and ended up here.

Yes, a lot of the stuff that you read in the papers is true. But you don't see it on the streets, as such. Although all the arrests in August last year meant a detour on the way to work.

Griffith is a long way from anywhere else and that fact deteres lots of people. But it is a prosperous and thriving multicultural community that has learned to live on its own because of its isolation.

There are really good sporting facilities and a great sense of community. That griffithgateway link in one of the posts above gives a good idea of the sorts of things that a tourist should do to enhance their stay, and it is a reasonable indication of the 'things other than work' that you might like if you come here.

It is hot and dry in the summer and can be cold and dry in the winter. Summer temperatures soar to +40 (I can remember one New Year's Eve not so long ago when it was 38 at midnight) and winter lows can be down to -6 overnight.

Industries in the town are based around the irrigation agriculture and horticulture, with well developed secondary industries supporting them.

There's about 25,000 people. Most of them love the place and would'nt go anywhere else.
