Got a letter from DIAC today...
Addressed to Mrs. Alf
I started wondering if they found out about the blackmailed panel doctor we used for our meds and the offshored job reference writers. So I texted her to ask if I could open it. She replied yes. Lo and behold it was a survey asking us how we are finding life in Australia as new immigrants. Pheeeeeeeeeeew!!! ;) So my question is this. How did DIAC get hold of our address here in Oz? |

Did you use this address while applying for a Tax File Number to work in Australia? Or used this address in any further dealings with the Tax Office? Did you use this address while applying for your Medicare cards? If its a "no" to these three questions, then I really don't know how they found out! |

Was this the address you filled out on the Inbound Passenger Declaration while arriving in Australia?

Medicare: Yes, as we only did that after we got this rental. So that could be it. Have also changed drivers license addresses to new address as well. But thinking about it. All they have to go on is her name and surname as no-one has taken down visa details, only looked at them. Still confused a bit. |
Re: Got a letter from DIAC today...
Medicare would usually require a copy of the passport/visa or a passport number/visa number to ensure that you are infact entitled to medicare. Data matching would take place from there on.

There's a link between immigration and medicare. When I went to register for medicare they told me to come back in a few days as they still hadn't got the info from immigration. Can only assume some info goes in the reverse direction.
