Good news for first time Queensland buyers
Here is the good news for all you guys moving out!!!!!
First homeowners have been offered savings of $9800 on a $500,000 house as a key part of the first Bligh government budget.
Under the package of reforms yesterday offered in Treasurer Andrew Fraser’s first budget, stamp duty for all first homes up to $500,000 by September 2008will be scrapped.
Last year’s budget decision to reduce mortgage duty to zero from January 1, 2009, has been brought forward six months to July 1, giving savings of about $300 on a $500,000 home.
“Through these sweeping changes, any Queenslander seeking to break into housing ownership by purchasing a house under $500,000 will be given a break by not having to pay one red cent in stamp duty on the purchase.

Re: Good news for first time Queensland buyers
Under 500K is already a booming market, most stuff under that, unless it has some big problem/area sells very quickly.
Agree with you, demand (extra punters) will push prices up. Good news tho if you already own or are selling, first home owners buying, that flows on to the next price bracket as those people move on etc etc.
Notice homes over a million will pick up the tab for the lower end reductions. Probably not a concern for the average buyer.
