Gold Coasters beware !!!!!
 

Our oldest (19) daughter decided it was time to face the big wide world on her own and has moved back to Sydney today. She never did settle here and really missed her friends. I tried to talk her out of it, but its her life and as we have seen in other threads THEY KNOW BEST !!

She decided about a month ago that she wanted to go back and booked the train (your all going to pish yourselves at this). The boyfriend arrived on Friday to help her bring all her gear down.
When she first booked it I asked her if she wanted me to pay for a flight for them both, but she had far too much gear to take on the plane. So I asked her how she was getting to the train station. She told me that they were heading for surfers, and then getting the bus to The Casino, then getting the train from there to Sydney. She had it all worked out and I felt very proud of her that she had everything organised! :cool:

Last night friends across the road phoned and asked if we would come over so they could all say goodbye. So off we toddled, had a pile of drinks just to dull the ache.
When one of my mates was leaving he asked if my daughter and her boyfriend wanted a wee day out on his boat before they left. It was very nice of him, but I told him they were catching the train to Sydney at 10.10am and don’t have the time. He then asked me if I fancied a wee day out. But I couldn’t I was taking the kids to The Casino to catch the train. He then asked what train and I told him the train to Sydney. He burst out laughing and then informed me that there was no train at The Casino and am I sure she didn’t get it mixed up with Casino the place !!!!!!!
I dint have a clue and asked her, she hadn’t a clue either.
It turns out that Casino is nearly 3 hours drive from us and is in NSW !!!!!! :eek:

We rushed home and tried franticly to book them on a flight to Sydney with no success.
I had been pished from the night of boozing, but luckily he boyfriend had only 2 beers. So he had to drive down at 6.30am and I drove back. I felt like strangling both of them, but the heartbreak of feeling like I was loosing my wee baby kept me in check. :o
The next few weeks will be hard without her around here but I’m sure time will be a healer.
I start work at 2am and she would stay up and iron my gear and make me breakfast before I left (I never needed to ask). It could feel as if I’ve lost one of my hands, but instead it feels like a huge part of my heart has been ripped out. :(
I do hope she finds her feet in that big world out there and a part of me feels proud that she has made this big step, but I still see her as a 3 year old and want to drag her back kicking and screaming.
Right I’m off to sit and sulk like a big baby :mad:

Awww what a drama. Good on them for giving it a go. Im sure they will be fine and she knows she has her mum and dad just a short flight away.

it aint easy mate, but i`m sure that she`ll be all right

its difficult isnt it ??

they are always your little kids regardless of age
my lads 25 now and i still see him as a boy
he has his own house, fiancee etc but he`s still my "lad"

on the daughter front i`ve got all this to look forward too
our daughters 13 and well developed, she can fill my wifes
clothes now :scared:
( girls defiantly wernt like this when i went to school )
o and attracting boys like its going out of fashion
when they come a knocking i dont know whether to invite them in or strangle the little bleeders
somehow i nearly always mention that i`m well in to karate and shooting :D
( i carnt help remembering what i was like at 14/15 )

but i suppose you have to loosen the old apron strings as it were and let them make their own way,

cheers steve, yeh i used to look as mental as i could when the girls brought guys round. didnt have to try that hard though lol

Thats even better then, he will take on the role of "dad" and keep her right. Brothers are always protective of their sisters. It also shows that you have brought them up good and they are independent and can stand on there own two feet. You can always visit them and sleep on their floor lol

lol nah they can have the floor. ill be the guest ;) free food free drink and while im there i think ill ask them for some money.........cos im bored lmao :D

lol re: train escapade! :D My lad is the same just thinks 'it'll be alright'!!

I dread the day when mine go - as much as they can sometimes drive you up the wall at least it's my wall they push me up!

Take care and think of the free Sydney accommodation for you now!

Whoever said being a parent was easy eh:(

I had to laugh at the fiasco though Soaps. At least the comedy of errors took your mind off things and it'll give you sommat to smile about when you're feeling down:D

Sorry mate but as I was reading this I did think oops hope she realises how far Casino is from here :o It's probably easier to drive or train up to Brissie and then direct down from there but at least dad was there to save the day....again :D

Oh Soapy, can't imagine how your feeling right now. Sounds like she'll be ok. Time's a bugger and got a lot to answer for! but it does make a difference. All the best.
