But on a different note, I would love to try the chocolate and partridge ravioli that was on Masterchef last night
Urghh! Never tried it but after that visualisation I now know I never will

Polenta is similar to South African mealie pap. On it's own it's tasteless stuff but properly steamed and served with tomato and onion sauce, a good helping of meat and a side salad it's delicious. You can also make a very yummy and satisfying breakfast porridge with it.

I love gnocchi. It shouldn't be slimy if you cook it right.
I will agree that they do look like small bollocks.

A more disgusting thing I cannot imagine, from the texture to the taste. Good job I tasted it before serving it up, the OH and kid both agreed.

To add insult when I looked on the docket I saw I paid over $5 for this stuff.

Even the dog has refused it.

He must be going through an experimental phase in the kitchen.

I've had gnocchi once which says it all.

Polenta on the other hand is tremendous when my wife makes it into a lemon polenta cake.

I have another theory...

things like gnocchi ... highly complicated, time consuming ways of cooking something VERY simple... a plan, that has largely been successful, devised by men to keep women in the kitchen for longer than is entirely necessary... there are many similar examples from many cultures...

I like gnocchi. And polenta. And cous cous. But not stir fry.

Think I might be on my own on that one.

It's got to be home-made gnocchi if you're going to have it. The shop-bought stuff here is terrible, a complete waste of time and money. I'm a big fan of couscous, especially in summer when it's so hot that you don't want to do anything more heat-producing than boiling a kettle.

Not on your own. I'm with you. Love couscous, like polenta and gnocchi, not overly fond of stir-fry.

You have a friend

And I agree with tonrob, beef stir-fry and gnocchi

Beef stir fry and gnocchi.....hmmm...fusion quisine can only go so far

However, beef stir fry

Gnocchi - tried it once - I can imagine practicing table tennis with the little balls of rubber shite if I was inclined.

Lets keep good old spuds recognisable and edible
