Gina Rinehart
Following on from the previous thread I started on another megalomaniac mining magnate, I am finding all this dirty laundry currently being aired on Gina Rinehart fascinating! No wonder she tried her hardest for a suppression order to be placed on the case!!!!

Re: Gina Rinehart
... because being the richest woman just isn't enough.
Money does not bring happiness (well not when there is so much to fight over).
Why can't they all be happy with a bit?
And where does Rose Porteous fit into all of this? She definitely let Laing Hancock's money go to her head (and her much younger husbands' heads)

Re: Gina Rinehart
Let's hope this sorry saga at least builds public support for a mining tax. Does anyone truly believe one person deserves $17 billion largely "earned" from royalties on OUR resources?
I loved the way the Liberals and Nationals tried and failed to hush this up - we can now see whose side they're really on... Almost comic.

Her wealth is not made by stuffing everyone up like that p...k George Soros and his hedge fund buddies.
Her wealth based on resources rightly owned by Western Australia and Queensland hasnt been made overnight - it over 60 years of capital investment.

No different to Bill Gates being a very smart operator - I dont begrudge any one using their knowledge to accumulate a fortune.

To compare Gina Rinehart with Bill Gates is absurd.

Just another dysfunctional family
It is true that money does not buy class....even if Australians think it does.

Re: Gina Rinehart
Of course, "class" is a very English concept. A social construct designed to justify one small group in society screwing over the majority by deluding themselves that they are better than everyone else and, hence, more deserving.
