Me too. I don't like her that much but prefer her to Rudd. He's the one who started the rot

Though the figures don't really demonstrate that the left wing ANC government has had any real effect in improving the lives of South Africans. Though they may have gained political freedom, economic freedom still eludes them:

In 2012, 26% of South Africans live in poverty.
36% live on less than US$2.50 a day.
Poverty went UP between 2006 and 2009.
More than half of South African children live in poverty.

South Africa is now judged to be one of the most unequal societies in the world.
1.4 million children live in homes that rely on often dirty streams for drinking water, 1.5 million have no flushing lavatories and 1.7 million live in shacks, with no proper bedding, cooking or washing facilities.
Four in 10 live in homes where no one is employed and, in cases of dire poverty, the figure rises to seven in 10.
330,000 children - and five million adults - are currently infected with HIV, and 40 per cent die from it.

Sadly not a great advert for 18 years of ANC governance.

7pm tonight for another ballot it seems.

Gillard not backing down, so as I say, I don't see Rudd pushing it.

This seems to me to be such a personal fight... with Gillard losing sight of the doughnut (Australia). She must know she's history in September but there's no way she's giving KRudd back his job.

I'm comforted that she's history, either way.

Listening to Rudd right now and he has the nail right on the head.... The spectre of work choices looms large with Abbot in power and that will cause absolute chaos and a probable early election when the Liberals get in. Thats what he is banking on.

The country will be ungovernable within 9-12 months of the Libs getting in.

No liquid Fuels, no Electricity, No Goods in or out of the Country, No Freight, No major Building could be on the cards. No court decree will stop what's coming.

Work Choices or it's new Clone will see the Libs off..... But it's going to be painful.

I don't know a lot about Gillard / Rudd. Obviously in the past Rudd must have been viewed as not good for the party, and was ousted by Gillard - did he stand down, or call a ballot on his leadership. What caused that in the first place? (I guess I could try google for answers but thought I'd ask first)

He is seen as a dictator within his own party, and wants his own way 100pct of the time. Got a bad temper as well and humilates people in public.

Ergo the people that like him least are plenty of his own party members

But I guess they're overlooking that at the moment to get a stronger party leadership before the election?

Yehp, because his party is split 50/50 .... he didnt completely alienate himself.

He is far more intelligent than any other person at the forefront on both sides of the political fence.... which is what will possibly prevail.

It won't make any difference. Jingoistic voting will probably save a few seats in Qld...that's about it. The media will have turned on Rudd the same way they have with Gillard long before election day.

I honestly thought Rudd would wait in line & let JuLiar lead the ALP into their worst ever defeat. That would kill her off for ever & he could come back as King Kev the saviour of the ALP.
Why would you want to chuck your name in the hat at this point & be remembered for a humiliating defeat when you could wait until after Sept 14th?
Does he believe he can get voters nationally back onside in 2 months?

Hopefully the election will be called earlyas the independents may drop support. . Abbott has so many weak points that he could do it. Kevin Turbull for PM.
