Getting an Oracle Apps job
Hi guys,
I'am an Oracle apps techno-functional consultant with over 6 years experience. Technically i'd say my skillset spans all Oracle Apps technologies (Workflows, OA Framework, Forms...) As for the functional aspect, my experience is basically on Oracle HRMS modules. however, my experience is mainly from non-anglo-saxon countries (Middle East). I'am expecting to get my PR within the next few weeks (if things are as expected), but before making a permanent move to Australia and leaving my current job, i would like to know what are my chances to secure a decent job while on a short stay (say for 40 days)? Would that be a realistic duration? Also, i would be grateful if someone could tell me the best cities for Apps jobs? Waiting forward to hearing your valuable inputs Thanks |
Re: Getting an Oracle Apps job
Sydney or Melbourne would be good places to start looking for any IT roles.
After your 40 days what are you planning to do? What if they want someone to start immediately? |

You may need to be more circumspect and secure yourself for 3 - 6 months to be in safe. Thanks Romeo |

But Australian business practices differ from the Rest of the World as here they give much higher priority to local experience over one's technical excellence, expertise and qualities.

IT is IT everywhere, you cannot say Australian or Candian standards in IT. So any difference should an abberation.

Oz is also based on the mates system, and so its far more important to have local working history and local contacts. IT is fairly small scale, and people know people and what type of person works in what place. I had 15 years of top grade investment bank experince before I got here, and I couldn't get an interview for months ( Brisbane ). non-anglo-saxon could also be an issue.

Re: Getting an Oracle Apps job
Ah now I know why I have had so much difficulty in getting a job in IT in Sydney. I don't have any "Anglo Saxon" experience either.
I remember studying them at primary school once and I'm sure I probably passed the test but that's obviously not enough. Short of time travelling back to the early 600 AD how does one get Anglo Saxon experience? |
Re: Getting an Oracle Apps job
Why such condition is not one of the requierments for skilled worker visa while NZ's immigration system counts the experience of the skilled worker ONLY if he/she has an experience in a comparable market and there is a list of countries which they recognize their experience.
