Re: Geert Wilders
But agree that just because someone is offended is not a good enough test in my book for offense to be considered so... In Criminal law, there were tests whereby what a reasonable person would have done and thought was the test. If one person has a chip on their shoulder and is overly sensitive or difficult then it is not the thought of the many, or indeed rest..

Re: Geert Wilders
That he is back is indeed our loss. Sadly, he endangers the general population here by his lack of professionalism, intellect and eloquence, except perhaps our one saving grace is that Al Jazeera has him marked down as an eccentric, thus he irritates only those of us who deal with his infantile rants and raves in parliament via the press.
Everyone here enjoys free speech, nothing has changed. Only those advocating ethnic cleansing are held up to public scrutiny, it being such a short time since that German guy promised the same of the Jews (Google ''minder marokkanen'' - an Afrikaans speaker will understand his words; for the rest, he is promising to ensure 'less people of Moroccan descent' in the Netherlands, if he reaches power) .

A very sad state of affairs but indicative of the mess that many European countries have got themselves into

The fact that you find it acceptable for someone in your country - an elected politician no less - to have to have round the clock armed protection because of something he said speaks volumes about the state of the democracy in a nation considered to be one of the greatest liberal democracies of Western Europe

Wilders (and you it seems) have conveniently forgotten (it seems) that the Dutch stripped the world's most populous Muslim country (Indonesia) for centuries and yet he would bar their people from entering the Netherlands if he had his way. A further irony is the Green of Islam shall not enter the Orange of the Netherlands!
Wilders likens the Koran to Mein Kampf but his ideas suggest he also has one ball.
Question (in response to your argument 'the only answer is to assimilate; dress, think, behave, worship etc like the county you live in). Did the Dutch and the British (and French, Americans, Monguls, Stalin, Turks, Italians, Greeks, Romans,...................................) 'assimilate' with the people of all the countries they included in their empires?
Now don't be a coward and just spout insults, argue your position.

Please keep this thread civil and to the point i.e. no personal attacks. Thank you.

Re: Geert Wilders
You know nothing of the military or warfare or ROE or Africa or the conflict in Namibia and Angola or just basic human survival instincts. When you do and have managed to get out of your western, blinkered, champagne socialist comfort bubble, we can debate. Until then......

I'll defer to Alfresco and give you a pass on your name-calling, personal attacks - this time

BE rule #1 quoted below to save everyone the effort of looking it up.
1. Personal Attacks
BritishExpats.com is an interactive site, and everyone who participates is “in it together”, please treat others the way you wish to be treated. Personal attacks will not be tolerated. Challenge others’ points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully … without insult or personal attack.
Thank you and have a nice day.

Re: Geert Wilders
Zulu. The rest of your post was sensible enough - so why spoil it with an unprovoked ad hominem insult? You know very well that I did not "justify" domestic terrorism; rather, I explained why some immigrants might feel vengeful.
Please don't let's go down the route of confrontation that Beoz and Oztennis take, chipping back and forth like children. If you meant to persuade me not to visit this thread again, you have succeeded. So much for freedom of speech, eh?

Then again, if you think about it, this is how the left works - if you can't impose your hateful views on the people, then play the race card. Works a treat
