The Flies are Back

Seems a bit early this year but I've just been for a walk down to coles which I normally enjoy and was attacked the whole way there and back by them, was waving my arms like a maniac whilst trying to push the pushchair.

Think I will have to cover myself in a net tomorrow :D

Starting to get the little blighters here too...

I find wearing white seems to attract them more...
I think I may get a bee-keepers hat to wear when outside for the next month!!

I can cope with the creepies here now, saw a dead snake on the footpath last week, had a huntsman on the gutter and have tackled redbacks in our previous home, but I just can't cope with the flies, I can't understand how people barbeque and eat outside all the time in Oz, I still don't own an outdoor setting and don't think I would want to eat out there if I did. Maybe I should use Raid instead of my usual perfume!

You need brisbane, sunsine coast or gold coast, for some reason these areas just dont get the sticky sort of flies that want to enter your body orrifices :D for fluid, sorry but thats why they stick to you. We get the normal sort of cook a barbie attract flies fly but not the body seekers. Perth and adelaide are the worse I have ever seen :scared:

Remember being in ferny creek vic, looked out window, lovely empty park for the kids across road, we lasted under 5 minutes, swarms of the bloody things were delighted to find the only bodies around, ran back to the unit, the flipping things were still stuck to us as we stood in the lobby trying to swot the things off, no use, they just followed us in a swarm up the unit staircase and into the unit :D

Thank god they don't last all summer.

We took the kids to the beach on Tuesday and they were all over us the whole time we were there.

Managed to stumble upon the nudist beach while we were down there, didn't bother getting out of the car, the naked guy walking across the car park was enough of a sight, but god knows where the flies must be landing on that beach :scared: :scared:

They're not too bad here at the mo. Give it a month and we will go back to eating outside, one handed, using the other to swot and get em off the food!!

Yuck!

I'm like you Rachel. I can now cope with any other beastie here but the damn flies drive us all mental.

I went and sat out the back the other day and had a cuppa. It was such a beautiful day I thought Id give the kids their lunch out there. As soon as the sandwiches hit the table the flies dive bombed us !! I went to Bunnings and bought one of those umbrella mosquito nets. Havent used it yet , but hopefully it will stop some of those flies
