Specifically answering the danger of these...
Turn ALL of your electricals off, including the fridge, as they can cause a fire if left on. It doesn't often happen, but is has happened.
I recall a few years ago someone let of about 20 of them in one building.... they blew the roof of, when something went wrong !

Shut off all electrical appliances including lights and refrigerators.
