CHANNEL Nine veteran Brian Naylor and his wife Moiree have been confirmed dead in the fires at Kinglake West, Sky News reports.
Channel Nine had earlier said the newsreading legend, who lives in fire-ravaged Kinglake West, could not be accounted for.

As someone who has never experienced anything like you guys are going through, it's impossible for me to even begin to imagine how you cope. I sincerely hope the number of deaths don't go up too much further although I think it inevitable :(. To all the firefighters, stay safe. I've been through 20 years of being a firefighter's partner/wife/whatever and am more than grateful he is now out of it.

Thinking of you guys. I tried explaining the situation to my mother on the phone last night but her only concern (vaguely understandably) was when the gritter would get down her road. :blink: She couldn't comprehend it at all.

I can not express my sad feeling by words. It is an absolute bad news. My deepest condolences to all who lost a family member, a friend, or a neighbour.

Properties can be build again, cars can be bought again, jungles and bushland will grow again but lose of life is unbearable.

this is just terrible, can't stop thinking about it, I am in Dubai and have my own Dubai based site, alot of my members are from this area, they are worried for their families. I am thinking of you all :wub:

I just wanted to say that I am just lost for words watching this unfold on the news and to think people may have started some of the fires deliberately defies belief. Dont know what else to say except I hope and pray that this nightmare will end soon, that everyone there can stay safe and that we are all thinking of you.....

Over 100 confirmed dead this morning- this is just awful. It's appalling to think that many of those fires are started either deliberately or by stupidity. Thinking of everyone in Vic this morning.

Stunned, horrified. No matter how long one works for emergency services it still hits hard.
I've just flown home - nothing happening when I left Aus, 40 dead by the time I reached Singapore, and now I'm in Bristol I've just seen the latest. Truly awful.

This is very sobering. We're having regular bulletins on TV this morning. Apparently our PM is mobilising 40+ firefighters from NZ to go help, but when you see the picutures that seems like a drop in a bucket. Lets hope for a big downpour. Too many have died already. I'm glad to hear people are being sensible and evacuating rather than staying too long to try to save the house.

Just read a story about a badly burned man who got to open ground with his baby daughter who was also burnt. He said to the people there "my wife and other child are dead, I need you to save my daughter".


It's unbelievable what people are going through.
Absolutely horrific :(
