All this makes me realise how easy we had it - 3 couples viewed it - 2 put in offers, one offered full asking price and 8 weeks later we gave them the keys - 12 weeks start to finish.

Me and Laneylou know exactly how you feel. We are also being messed about. Back in July (yes SIX months ago!) we put our house up for sale having got the Visa in November 2004, hoping to be in Melbourne late September. The house is shared equity 50/50 with a housing association. We had 3 valuations of £82,500. for our 50% share the first couple to view were renting and offered £80k. However the surveyor valued it at £70k and they dropped their offer accordingly, as this was all they could borrow. We decided to accept the £70k for a quick sale. BIG MISTAKE!!! The H.A need references and its taken 10 wks for them to come. The deadline we gave for the references was 6th January which did arrive on that date. We still don't have a date to exchange! We have now given another deadline to exchange (next Wednesday) and have put the house back up for sale and have a viewing this Wednesday. The thing that p*sses me off the most is that we have not received one call from the purchaser since November. We now feel they don't deserve the house at such a bargain price.
And to top all this off we both quit our jobs at the end of October when we found out they had had their Mortgage offer, which at the time we thought was their greatest hurdle because they were getting a 100% mortgage and they were using benefits as part of their income multiples. So we have lost £12,500 on the price and we have not been working for 2.5 months! No wonder laneylou is turning into an alcoholic!!
