Re: Family Dental Check - Unbelievable Price
I'v just calculated that the check up and work I need doing will cost $8000.
I can't put it off, as it is decay and crowns falling to bits.
Ouch!

Re: Family Dental Check - Unbelievable Price
Outrageous. I go once a year costs me £20 for an NHS check up and clean. My mum to thank took me to a dentist religously every 6 months for a check up as soon as I cut my teeth and made me brush twice a day. That and the fluoride in the water in Wales. Late thirties now and never had a filling in my life...Went to a dentist in Australia for a check-up once and he just tapped me on the molars and said got to hand it to you mate you aint got bad teeth for a pom!!!

Re: Family Dental Check - Unbelievable Price
Yeah, our pretty average policy covers two free checkup and cleans per year for the whole family. Jad at that price might be worth changing insurers...yours seems pretty crap?

Re: Family Dental Check - Unbelievable Price
All my back molars are filled.
I went for a checkup for the first time in 2 years, and told there is no decay but I need fillings restored.
Some people I know go to Asia to get crowns etc done - and use 'Western' trained dentists - then have a holiday.
What has saved my teeth is the fact that I never drink coke etc and don't put sugar in my tea anymore.

Yep, I have been to ask prices just for a clean. They ALL add on xrays. I don't want xrays! And they cost a fortune anyway.

oh no dont get ripped off & pay all that! I stopped over in Bangkok & had 1st rate treatment (mainly for failed UK root canal work) at a fraction of the cost- couldn't recommend them highly enough...all US or Aus trained.....Silom Dental..........worth checking out at least?

I am getting $4000 of the work on the medicare dental plan- which expires at the end of November- thank you government.
I would not be able to afford the constant flights back and forth to Bangkok- and I prefer, with my condition, to have a dentist who can do the required anaesthesia necessary and to whom I can get to within 15 minutes if there is a problem.
