excess luggage

Sorry..I know Singapore airlines & Quantas offer 40kgs to permanent visa's.We are going on a Business visa subclass 163..which is temporary. We are staying permanently if we like it.We are on a 4 year visa. The airlines say we can't have the extra allowance. Is there anyone else in the same situation..or managed to get the extra allowance.Any ideas appreciated.Thanks.

To be honest no since you dont have a perm migration visa. These are the only two airlines who still even offer this and from previous posters experience they are quite hot on the rules concerning it.

Go via the states I believe you get 46 kg as standard.

We were 32kg over with Malaysia and didn't get charged when we checked in at heathrow and penang.

We booked via the states thinking we would get the 46kg allowance, unfortunately we booked with BA who only give you 20kg's:mad:, i have since then looked into it and BA dont have a very good reputation on this site but its too late for us we have already paid.

if you're a kris flyer member with singapore air or fly first or business class you get extra baggage allowance other than that have you thought about shipping your extra over rather than taking it with you

I have spoken to all airlines.Singapore,Emirates,Virgin all charge around £34 per kilo for excess!! BA charge £60 per bag (extra 23kg) & Quantas do a migration ticket for £700 pp.
