escalating car service costs...eek!

my car is...as we 'speak' in the garage having it's 90km service...at a cost of what I thought was going to be $620. Apparently it's one of those 'biggies' when it has to have the timing belt sorted...typical

I just had a call from the garage & now I'm told it's gonna cost all but $900 :scared: because the timing belt needs a new tensioner & new 'rollers' ...didn't know it needed a hairdo aswell

.....sheesh...better send the OH out to sell his body to pay for it all

Ahhhhh, see thats where its such an advantage being married to a Mechanic who works at the garage you bought your car from!! :D

BTW....hope you get decent $$ for your Hubby, I would have be the paying others to take mine ;) (I'm so glad he never comes onto BE hehe)

Yes the cost of a service is huge, but the poor mechanic does not get to see any of it hardly. My hubby is a mechanic for Jaguar and they charge the earth for a service but hubby sees only a small percentage of that unfortunatley.

Fully trained mechanics should get paid same as any other trade, but for some reason they dont and it really annoys me. Its a skill and should be recognised as one. Off my soap box and back to the ironing.....
