Qantas A380 bc can seem a little like being in a tunnel but much better than economy

Re: Emirates/Qantas business class
I would take the EK A380 over QF A380.
The EK A380 has the staggered arrangement so you can get a single seat on your own with no neighbour. The QF one is in a more traditional 2+2+2 set up. I did sleep well on the QF bed though which is kinda unusual for me.
I would avoid the EK 777 over either of the A380s...2+3+2 seating means there is a dreaded middle seat in business.

I did the Qantas 380 for my trip back last year. Didn't really like it, you have to clamber over your neighbour or be clambered over (I had to clamber). Also I don't think they have enough loos, the cabin was full and no matter what time of day or night it was there was always about three people lined up for every loo.

EK every time. I haven't done the EK A380 in business class yet as Perth can't get it's act together. But EK is a lot better than QF - I fly business every month long haul.

I expect the business cabin is always full too on that route, because I am sure there are enough people with points to upgrade into anything they don't sell.

The business cabin was the worst affected.

There are a few other routes on QFF. PER-SIN on QF, then SIN-LHR on BA. Qatar is also an option. Both are more points and 'fees' though

Re: Emirates/Qantas business class
The EK777 Bus despite being 232 is ok. Im only 5'9" and can easily step over neighbour even when they are in bed mode.
As BC says though take the 380 where you can. I now go to LHR as opposed to LGW as the 380 is worth the extra 40 minutes dive (or longer)
On the 380 if travelling alone, get the window seat and not too far back in cabin
Enjoy

Re: Emirates/Qantas business class
We have done J class GLA-MEL-GLA a number of times; all with EK, both on 777-300ER and A380. My experiences:
Personally I didn't like the A380 and found it to be 'cattle class' business - i.e. too many passengers. Don't think me snobby or anything, that's just how it felt - economy waiting times for meals, bigger queues at loos after/before meals and so on. I'm not a drinker so bar at back is neither here nor there for me - apart from good snacks being available there.
The other thing with the A380 was the length of flight - DXB-MEL-DXB is very long flights non-stop.
So, I prefer the 777 and having a break in SIN or KUL to break it up. This way the journey for us is 7/7/7 i.e. roughly 3 sectors of 7 hours each.
Those seats on EK A380, presume Qantas the same, are dreadful. If you have shoes on it's difficult to put your feet into the very small space provided.
Doing EK J class Friday!!
Re seats, there's no reason these days to turn up at the airport and take pot luck with where you sit. As soon as we make a booking with EK we going into 'Manage a Booking' and select our seats after looking at Seat Guru or Expert Flyer to see which seats on that type of aircraft are good or not recommended i.e. there's no reason to be lumbered with a middle seat on a 777 unless you book at the last minute and the flight is full or you just front up on the day. Ditto checking in online - you do it up to 24 hours from your flight and avoid the queues; not that J queues are ever long though, certainly for Y.

Re: Emirates/Qantas business class
Good feedback
What's EK 1st class like
I have plenty of QFF points and I reckon that Qantas is about to fall apart so may just use them up

Re: Emirates/Qantas business class
I might be able to tell you about EK 1st class early next week. We have enough Skywards miles to upgrade to 1st but currently it's showing unavailability in EK Manage a Booking. However, when we check in at GLA and DXB we'll try for an upgrade - apparently they don't release upgrade seats until the day of the flight just in case a fare paying passenger wants to book.
