Re: Emigrating, should I/shouldn't I

Europe (excluding the UK) is far more sophisticated and far more diverse and I look forward to going back.
Bit harsh isn't it? Britain is one of the most diverse cultures on earth, we have stabbings from almost every culture on a daily basis and as for sophistication, well you just remember who invented the deep fried mars bar!!!!

PS glad you cleared that itch up, if you don't want it back steer clear of certain parts of France and the Czech Republic:)

PS the Sanj is short for Sandra, I'm not married to an indian fella

Flattering yourself again, I doubt that any indian fella would marry you. Your sense of humour is an acquired taste.

I for one like the taste!!! But its not for everyone.:p

Yeah I'd kind of got that impression from some previous replies, makes me laugh when people don't get it and think I'm dumb

Thanks for getting me:wub:

Fortunately, I have both passports. :D

I think it's fair to say (and feel free to take issue Vash if you think I've got this wrong, I'm still a newbie) that it's not Australia that's the envy of the world, it's the way Australia is marketed.
I agree. :)

As the others have said before, no one can answer the question for you.

OH and I have always talked about the possibility of moving to Australia. He had never been, I have plenty of family out there. So in 2004 we went there for 3 weeks with the intention to decide whether we wanted to live there or not.
After coming back, our decisions were made. OH wanted to move there, I didn't  Even though I had been there a few times before and I was the one who had always started with "Australia would be a great place to live", I suddenly didn't want to go. There was one main reason - my parents. It may sound stupid, but when I was in Australia with my OH I just could not picture myself living there without the opportunity to go visit them whenever I wanted to. We are pretty close, and I visit them nearly daily for a cup of tea, as I pass their house on my way to the horses.

And there were a few minor points that I knew I could live with, but still didn't like in Australia (spiders  ).

So we decided to stay in Germany for a few years.

Within the last few months we started to think about Australia more often again, and now things have changed. My dad (who lived there for a few years) is retired and my mum will retire at the end of next year, and now they want to go to Australia with us.

OH will be leaving the Army at the end of next year, so the timing is perfect. And seeing that he still only knows about 20 german words after all the years, the chances of him finding a job over there will be easier than here ;)

Go to Australia for a holiday with open eyes. Then make your mind up if this is a place you could live in. If it is, give it a go when you're ready for it.
