I'm in West London ATM. Very noticeable. All the roads near the mosques were horrendously congested, everything in gridlock as hired security details assumed the role of traffic cops.

Well the world sort of passes Perth. But there was something on the news, with regards to Muslims collecting funds for distressed farmers outside mosques, in Lakemba.
Way to go. Few recognise the good deeds done.

We get quite a few street beggers, mostly Mental Health type people out of the rooming houses. It's the Muslim people that give them money mostly. It's like they can't walk past without reaching into their wallets or purses. Although that only compounds the problem of street begging.

It's good to read this sort of thing, when most stories about Moslems feature bombs and jihads! My wife and I have very fond memories of our youthful travels hitching around the Middle East and staying overnight in city slums - the standard of hygiene wasn't quite what we were used to, but the hospitality was wonderful. In Java, too.

From where I sit, and that's among them, I'd say it' feels deliberate. No wonder some get frustrated eh. The charitable part of Islam is a strongly entrenched core value.
