Can you alter UK DVD players so that they play region 4 DVDs?

Do a google search for your particular make and model of dvd player and see if it can be made region free.

Othwise buy a blue ray player which will play all DVD regardless of region. We picked up a Sony for $99 in Hardly Normal or could have been JCB!!!

Err, that doesn't necessarily follow. Quite a few such players have regions set for DVDs and Blu Rays.

Mind I *would* get a player, just because why bother with buying DVDs, but not because they might be region free.

To the op, most DVD players sold in the UK over the last ten years have been possible to region hack, if only because they couldn't shift them otherwise.

Jb hi fi sell soniq ones for about $70 a quick look on whirlpool brings up the code to make it region free.
