Default Domestic Flights Aus - Photo ID for kids?

OK, we've booked our flights for our eastern states oddesey.

You need photo ID at check in, no problem for me and the Mrs. we'll use our drivers licences. But what about the kids? Do we have to use their passports for a domestic flight. What other forms of ID would people typically use for their kids?

This is just an experience my Mum had with my Niece and Nephew earlier this year with Jetstar.

My Sister and BIL drove their car up to the Gold Coast and my Mum was taking the kids on the plane and meeting them up there. When they booked the tickets, the kids last name was obviously different to my Mums last name due to marriage.

Now no one really thought about ID until they were asked for it at check in. The staff at check in said it wouldnt have been a problem if the kids were booked in under the same surname as my Mum, but as it was, they had to phone my sister who then faxed a copy of their medicare card down with all of their names on.

If you want to be 100% certain, email the airline, then print out their response for when you get to the airport.

Only needed photo id to fly from UK to Ireland and the only thing we could come up with was their passports (they could fly without if they were on ours ).

Never had to show ID for kids on domestic flights, adults dont forget it, otherwise a big hassle, and dont be late for the flights, well if you do any on jetstar, they are very firm on shutting the doors on time, dont give a toss if your late.

I agree. I get pissed off if my plane misses it's slot because someone has spent too long in the duty free.

It's particularly bad at hub airports like Singapore, if you miss the slot you could be waiting over an hour on the ground for something to come up. Just like I had to last time because of some d**kheads!

If a parent has photo ID (Driving Licence) and a Medicare card with the parent and kids' names it should be enough.

Big.

I've flown 2 of my grandchildren back and forth, solo as well as accompanied, from Brisbane numerous times and they never needed photo ID.
