LOL... It does seem strange, but that Robert Burns hotel has been around for a long long time, It's only been doing Spanish food for the last 15 years I'd say.

I miss Sydney sometimes. I ''secretly'' quite enjoyed a counter meal there watching football. (League).

I'd say we eat out more, and it is cheaper.

I love 5 Rivers. It does depend what you order there, but it's the best so far...and it does chicken breast without veins

I think, like most restaurants, it depends when you catch them. I got a take away from Kabalason on Sunday. Prawn Kashmiri. It was lovely. I can't remember whether it was like a UK curry or not but I enjoyed it.

My fave NOR is still Mullalloo Beach Hotel. Great food, great restaurant (by Perth standards )

Kabalason is quite nice, i have eaten there twice. P fixed their air-con so we were treated very good

I have eaten at Mullaloo, but the dish i got was not too good, but i would go again and try something else. I like the restaurant in general, especially with the pub next door.

I haven't been to 5 rivers yet. we don't get takeout all that often (I can cook better). I find Mullaloo good food.

No, its not an inedible part, they just tenderize the normal parts with Baking powder or other chemicals, so it dissolves in your mouth.

Apparently some people like that. I'm with you, I hate the way every kind of meat is tenderized.

Really not a fan of chinese food here, unless I can find a chinese place that doesn't "tenderize" the meat.

Ah, I suppose that's the difference, then. Out in suburbia. I am actually still surprised by Port Melbourne. The closer you get to the CBD, the busier places tend to be. Other hotspots tend to include Chapel St, Lygon St and Sydney Road.

Treat yourselves one night and try 5 Rivers, you may be pleasantly surprised. You can sit in there, best to book though. The owners are lovely. It's one of the best i have tried so far, but it does depend on what you order, stay away from the Kormas.

I'm cooking a curry Sat night for some friends. But i cheat on the starters and get onion bhaji from 5 Rivers

I have to say you're factually incorrect on 2 points.

Mrs JTL, who is from China, says Vancouver has the best chinese cuisine outside of China.

And secondly, in Australia, the best , tastiest, authentic Chinese cuisine is served in The JTL Kitchen, and cooked by the ever modest Mrs.
