I think there are certain cases where there is absolutely no reason to believe the guilty parties can be rehabilitated so what purpose does incarceration serve? I do believe in a system of rehabilitation rather than punishment in most cases.

But in all circumstances? I went to high school with a guy who killed someone when he was 15. He was tried as an adult, went to adult prison for 15 years and came out a totally changed person. He's now a missionary and one of the nicest people I know. What about those who are wrongly convicted? How do we reconcile taking the life of someone who is later proven innocent?

That's my major issue. One wrongly executed is one too many and there have been thousands around the world later found innocent.

OK so they are too away from there loved ones but playstations/Wii's/jobs/TV's/free education to name a few of the 'perks' and all at a cost to the tax payer !!! Why should we support financially those that have knowingly committed a crime? When there IS 1000's of honest people that are homeless through no fault of there own! the money should be spent on them instead IMO Its an 'Eye for an Eye' in my opinion. Dougie  |
