Still there according to google

I love a good curry, since the wife got pregnant she has gone right off them.

Its a disaster....

If she was still keen on them, tonight tea would be well sorted. Due to the above suggestion.
just do it mate

We struggled to find a curry house that made anything pleasing to our tastebuds when we were in Qld. I think we just kind of gave up and resigned ourselves to home made curries.

Here though, our local curryshop makes some really lovely stuff, that suits our palates down to the ground. And when they say they'll make a hot one, it is a properly spiced hot one.

They don't do onion bhajis though

I'd only had Thai food once before we emigrated, in a restaurant in Newcastle, so I've totally embraced the whole takeaway Thai thang they have going on here. No idea how it compares to the UK version of Thai food.

Have three or four curry houses within easy reach of round here that we really like. Some bloody good Chineses as well. Last time we visited the UK, we rushed to visit our favourite Indian and then were quite disappointed that it didn't match up to our 'memories'. We also went to one my best mate practically lives in and were not impressed even though it's won awards, bland didn't cover it.

Our local, recently opened, curry house is a bit dire. I've had a selection of dishes, all reasonably priced at $16 inc. Pilau rice. While they are tasty enough as a meat stew, curry they aren't! I had a "Hot" Jalfrezi last week & to be honest it was about as spicy as a butter chicken or a pasanda. It's a typical Australian style curry house, one where you order any dish & are asked "mild , medium or hot?" I accept that is how it's done here in Australia.
I still prefer to drive the 200+ K down to Spice Avenue in Birkdale. That way I can guarantee a proper British style Balti. Obviously it's not authentic Indian cuisine, it's not billed as such. The sign on the door states British style Balti that's what you get. Delicious food exactly like you'd get in a decent Balti house in the U.K. Caters for a niche market i.e a multitude of Poms Best in S.E Queensland in my opinion
Nice one Naz

In fairness that's how it should be done everywhere. The names are not an indication of heat, they are a style of dish. You can have a Jalfrezi hot or mild but as long as the dish is fried and the sauce is quite dry it's still a Jalfrezi. Presumably the Indians/Bangladeshi people in the UK used the names to denote heat because they thought the British too dumb to understand otherwise.

Strange. I've yet to be asked here whether I want a curry mild, medium or hot.

The only place I remember that happening was the Mumtaz in Bradford. But they sort of had a pick and mix menu.
