Current Job Oppertunities

Hi All, I am preparing to leave for Australia; Melbourne most probably and
wondering about the effort it will require to get a job, I hope I will get an
odd job soon after reaching, any advise regarding the current job situation?

Thanks and regards,

An odd job? Are you a left handed screwdriver salesman?

Surely you're thinking of a stainless steel re-inforced razor sharp bowler hat salesman :p

All he has to do is find Goldfinger (or Mr Evil)

I am an Oracle Specialist and I am left handed as well. I think it will take some time before I will get my field related job, therefore naturaly inorder to
avoid using my savings during that period I would certainly like to do an odd
job rather that sitting around.

Lots of luck!
Make sure that your CV is tailored to the Aus jobmarket & no spelling errors on front page etc. I know this is basic but read a guys CV lately that was shocking with spelling errors & I know it was because English is his second language but if I was an employer....
:fingerscrossed: for you!

What makes you think it will take you lots of time to find a job as a DBA? In Melbourne? Have you contacted any agencies?

I didn't think you were either funny or unkind, Sal. It's excellent advice, even for someone whose first language is English. I proofread my husband's CV and covering letter yesterday for him and was amazed that he managed to get by these past 43 years with the shocking spelling and grammar.

I thought it was good advice too.

Worst CV I ever read was from a guy in Brazil, who could barely write English.

He said he would come and work for us in Oz if we pay him, his family his flight and his life.

Some people think that the world revolves around them I think that Brazilian
boy had the same problem; I have observed that men are usualy more
careless about spellings and grammer; honestly even I usualy make mistakes
that I make just out of habbit; its not that I dont know the right spelling its
just that my main motive is to put my point accross, its just like men are more careless in negotiating during a purchase compared to a woman however I will try to be more carefull with the resume and the covering letter since that is the starting point of createing an impression

Sexist pish, men can spell as well as women. You can put your point across AND have the correct spelling/grammar. It only takes an extra couple of seconds before pressing the 'post' button'. Using Firefox helps as well as it highlights any spelling mistakes as you type.

Not having a go, just trying to give some constructive assistance.
