Re: The Cricket Thread
England have been massively underwhelming on this tour and they totally deserve to be 3-0 down. They have got themselves into good positions and then blown them. They have made Australia look better than they actually are - especially given that Smith's captaincy hasn't been that flash
Some of England's players don't deserve their places:
Cook is now a passenger and is contributing nothing to the team
Ali has been a massive disappointment. Looks like he's a one trick pony and is a shadow of what Swann was
Broad has no penetration as a bowler and his batting is Keystone Cops hilarious
England should be better than this - 5-zip to Australia is on the cards

Toothless bowling, no decent spinner, Smith, all the off-field nonsense ... I would be embarrassed if England got away with a draw today due to pitch/weather to be honest.
Credit to Aus, they wrapped it up in ruthless fashion. Was painful to watch Anderson giving a going over but in a sporting context it’s foot on the throat stuff.
But there is hope, the newbies looked good. Maybe Stokes can prioritise his country instead of his ego and IPL millions next time ...

Yep, it’s been painful to endure. Brief moments of hope (3 days of the first test, the occasional session, etc) followed by the cold hard truth of reality.

Even Root with all his youth and talent has come unstuck.
It was always going to be the team with the best bowlers.
I just hope we don't go to England thinking we can blast them out of the park with pace like we have done in the past.

Interest in Ashes here waning fast, hope to get some bosh bosh thrills watching the Brisbane Heat tomorrow ... Lynn back, LBWatson still playing ...
England/Wales/SA just not good enough this time around, can’t be denied.
Bye Cooky, Broad ... time to move on.

I think the home advantage thing will always generally rule unless you have an exceptional team. It’s like a different game being played around the world depending on who is hosting.

Cooky, Broad ... how dare anyone doubt your talents.

Neither team, of course, is better than South Africa

Rubbish. I'm no fan of either side but England have under-performed massively - they know it and we know it. From what I've seen, Australia are a better team than England and at the moment, would win wherever they played

On the flipside Australia have gone into Ashes series in England resting on laurels and not thought about the bowling tactics. Very frustrating stuff. Lets hope the next one they do a bit of Duke ball, grassy wicket prep.

One memorable moment, in a pretty boring match... The Barmy Army in full voice singing "Jerusalem", with Joe Root (fielding close to the pitch) mouthing the words along with them.

Barmy Army, I found very subdued the day I attended here in Perth. Disappointing to say the least. A rousing version of 'Jerusalem' , was about it at the beginning. (which was well received)
Rest of day very little. They surely missed the coordination of past matches. Together with no trumpeter . Best I've witnessed over past decade plus was The Army in Cape Town for the 2004 Test. Great fun both at the ground and around certain watering holes in town and harbour front.
