Mmmmm, maybe it might have something to do with poor sanitation, dodgy food, the chances of getting shot or blown up might have something to do with it.......

It's called 'overseas'. As in 'Where are you going for your holidays?'

'Overseas'

'Where overseas?'

'Just overseas'

'Where specifically?'

'Oh um Europe or Asia somewhere'

We've had leaving parties in work for people going 'overseas'. I always interrogate them where exactly they're going.

If they said North Straddie I'd ask for my $2 back

Ha I love to interrogate them too when they say overseas, the most exotic place they usually get to is Taz or New Zealand and thats for those that consider themselves well travelled, others consider another state like another country.

Dosn't that just drive you mad? Most Aussies seem to find it strange that someone is actually interested in their holiday destinations - its like getting blood out of a stone sometimes....."So where are you going?" "Overseas" But WHERE?" "Overseas of course".
I have this strange image of the World Atlas as used in Australian schools, Australia being one colour and everywhere else in another colour and just labelled "Overseas"
