Only the assembled panel of health / medical experts decided they posed no risk. In fact, it seems like even now they're sticking to that theory as well.

Why did we have a ban on cruise ship arrivals again?

Will that matter to you if either of them dies ? I'd assume that like any virus it can be transmitted by anyone, you say there's no evidence that it can be, there's also no evidence that it can't be.

For starters Australian citizens and residents need to be let off. No country has the right to turn away their own citizens and residents. It then becomes a matter of what you do with them. Self imposed self isolation is not working. That is clear.

You're not familiar with the story of the Diamond Princess then? How about quarantine?

You would assume if there large outbreaks amongst children any where in the world who are in close quarters with each other, the headlines would be riddled with it.

Have a read of this.

https://www.insider.com/coronavirus-...we-made-2020-3

The real question here is whether a full society lockdown was required last week (now is probably too late for Sydney at least) or whether we continue on the path of slow lockdown and lowering and extending the curve. The latter keeps bus drivers, dentists, supermarket workers, taxi drivers, and teachers at the front line. And to be frank, given large outbreaks amongst children has not been reported anywhere in the world, yet a dinner party of adults seems to make the headlines on a daily basis, I would be more concerned for bus drivers, facing up to adults on a daily basis, than I would teachers. Its just what the data says.

Teachers are one of many occupations having close contact with humans.

Let's not overlook the real question. Total lockdown or not?

700 odd people infected. 9 died right? Crew were taking infected plates from one room while handing an apple to a guest in another. Not sure that's the right type of quarantine.

Maybe take a step further back and shut down the cruise industry all together.

The real question remains the same. Full lockdown or not?

you'll change your attitude if your nipper gets it, let's hope it doesn't come to that eh?
And to answer your deflection, I mean question, yes that would appear to be the way forward.

I picked it up early that you were trying to make it all about me. It didn't work a few posts ago, it's not going to work now. Nice try though.

So it seems the head of the border force disagrees with your assessment that Australians had to be allowed to disembark regardless of whether they had been tested...he's just finished speaking and throwing NSW Health under the bus.

Contrasts the situation with a ship which docked in Melbourne around the same time, and Vic Health did not allow anyone to disembark until the results of testing were known.

Which comes back to original point and segues to the school situation...the health authorities...the experts...got it wrong.

Full lockdown, yes.

The pissing match between NSW Health and the Border Force is disgusting. Neither one took it seriously enough. Not when you are telling people to self-isolate when they get off the boat, but that they can still take public transport to/from two airports and take a long-haul flight to Perth first before that happens. What do NSW Health and the Border Force think "self-isolate" means? They have the same definition as all those bogans who were on Bondi.

It is just staggering to me that these ships weren't all called back into port a long time ago. Just think the resources it is now taking to manage this, not only the Ruby Princess, but the Vasco da Gama which is going to dock shortly in Perth and needs to have its passengers sorted.
