10 houses in one street, there have been god knows how many murderers and rapists living there, more tragedy than most people experience in a lifetime.

I would have to move! :-)

Not to mention all the sleeping around and affairs. But yes I do watch it.:D

If I could only ever watch one again, it'd have to be Corrie.

It isn't all doom and gloom, Coronation Street has always prided itself on finding humour (very often dark humour) in the midst of adversity, just like any self respecting Northerner* would do.

(*Although how people from Manchester can call themselves Northern when they're practically the Midlands, I'll never know ...... :getcoat: .... and yes, I know Southerners find humour in adversity but you'd never know it from Eastenders!)

is it anything like, or approaching real life in the North?

Bet the day I tune in they will all be discussing supermarkets or summat....

It is like most small communities that revolve around the local shop, pub etc. My home village and the village I lived in before I moved here are identical. Take the pasty northerners out of it and you could be in any small community in the world.

Wot she sed.

Although I have to say, my first proper job was in a clothing factory in a small Northern town wayyyyy back in 1986.. and we had much more technology then than they do in Underworld now.

I don't know how they manage to produce all those boxes of knickers that Kirk wheels about.

Fortunately thre is more on offer :me and the Missus do occasionally watch TV programmes - serials.

Our choice is Offspring - I love that actress - and we've just recently got into Downton Abbey.

I don't like watching either since I've moved here, too depressing, esp Eastenders. Does anyone watch "Outnumbered"? It's very funny, especially the little girl!
