They did commend his volunteering. They just decided not to do it publicly out of respect for his victim, the woman he raped some years previously. Someone's mother, wife, sister, daughter...he raped that person and the government decided to award him publically would be out of order so they said thank you privatley. It's great for once to see a victim of crime be thought about instead of the low lying scumbag rapist

The government are not "keep punishing" him. The scumbag got out and is free to start his life again. Shame the same can't be said about the woman he raped who probably lives with it every day. Thia scumbag should lie low and think himself lucky one of her male relatives doesn't find him and sort him out, man to man like. Maybe her father or brother would like to meet him

rape in whatever form is about subjugation of a woman and raping her against her will. However or whichever way you wanna dress it up as pretty or lousy, it's vulgar in the extreme and even more so to make excuses for a rapist is deplorable. It's only rape of the highest order when its your own kid on a date, or your own sister dressed provocatively in a club, or your mother or grandmother sat alone and a rapist breaks in? No of course not. It's rape whatever the circumstances as it's against a woman's wishes and for anyone to be convicted of it they are scum that were found out

This shyster is lucky he hasn't had his balls shot off by one of her relatives. Thank god the law stops retribution from happening and thank god common sense prevails and it's not rubbed in the victims face either

Let him move on with his life. But don't expect a bloody medal for it

He probably has little chance of moving on with his life now anyway. Even if the people living near him didn't know of his past they do now; even if the people he was volunteering with didn't know of it they do now. And even if he is genuinely sorry and trying to live a new life he won't get the chance now that his past is out in the open.

Me, on the other hand, having seen what rape did to my daughter, would be lined up at the front of the queue waiting to pull the lever.
Of course had he been castrated I'd no longer consider him a threat, castration tends to be a 100% success rate in rape case repeat offending
I have no problem with castration/sterilisation for sex offenders. Providing of course that there is irrefutable evidence that the person charged actually committed the crime. Besides, it would be good for the planet.

Government sanctioned murder is taking things a bit far. What if the wrong person is executed? There's no way to correct a mistake once a person is dead.

After a horrible/hard jail term long enough to make the person realise the error of there ways, they should then go onto surgery. How do people who are victims of such crimes come to terms with it. I find it scary to think of such a thing happening to me or my children, and to then find that these twisted individuals get out after so long only to carry on as normal, really hurts.
They deserve more than just jail time.
Chances are they get to taste their own medicine while they are inside. Sodomy is a prison sport by all accounts.

I'm not convinced by a death penalty either, I'd have a guillotine for sex offenders though. They'd get to chose whether they place their neck or their gonads on the block.

No, he shouldn't have been invited the very first time. It was a terrible mistake, unfortunately. If he's truly reformed, prove it by staying quiet about the mistake the organization has made, and keep redeeming himself for the rest of his life, or till the victim and family forgive him (if that's at all possible).

You do realise that women do not have a monopoly on rape. It happens to men as well.
