Rates of such incidents are extremely low. Quite frankly all you are doing is putting up a rather exclusive and conservative argument that has been disproved by many highly qualified people with a specialisation in this field.

It is as is the issue of intermarriage, or lack of, within some immigrant communities.

Still, I would be interested to hear of any studies which show there not to be an effect on the morbidity rates among consanguineous couples offspring. Everything I've seen backs up Bittles who is one of the leading scientists in this region.

My husband works in medical research, I believe he was finding that problems with vitamin D resistant rickets are much more common in cultures where first cousins rouinely marry.

May I respectfully suggest that Bittles (1998) is somewhat now outdated?

Since then (2000) we have the advantage of DNA in such a way we never had before.
